Can I give blood for myself?

Yes. It is called autologous donation. Autologous means “self donation” and refers to donating blood for your own surgery.
Our request form for autologous donation must be submitted by your physician more than 10 days prior to your surgery. It must be approved by our Medical Director. If you are approved for an autologous donation, Donor Notification staff will contact you to arrange payment for the associated processing and handling fees. They will schedule donation date(s) for a CBC donor center that can collect these special donations.
