Can I give blood for myself?
Medically reviewed on December 1, 2021.
Yes. It is called autologous donation. Autologous means “self donation” and refers to donating blood for your own surgery.
This is a decision that you and your surgeon must make together. A completed and signed Autologous Donation Request Form from your doctor is required. Once the procedure is approved, the special donations department will schedule your appointment. Walk-ins are not accepted for autologous donations.
