Carter BloodCare’s Dr. Laurie Sutor honored at national conference

Washington, D.C. (March 6, 2024) — Dr. Laurie J. Sutor, Vice President of Medical Services and Chief Medical Officer for Carter BloodCare, received the Bill Coenen President’s Award this week in the nation’s capital.

America’s Blood Centers (ABC), the national organization of community-based blood centers, bestowed the award March 5, during its annual conference in Washington, D.C. It was presented by Kate Fry, CEO of ABC.

The honor recognizes exemplary service to the blood community and the advancement of evidence-based medicine.

Dr. Sutor’s career spans more than 40 years in health care, including 30 years with Carter BloodCare.

As CMO for one of the largest blood programs in Texas, she leads Carter BloodCare’s Department of Medical Services, a team of medical directors with expertise in blood banking and transfusion medicine.

Dr. Sutor also serves as Professor of Pathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and Medical Director at the Transplant Services Center on the UTSW campus.
