Reopening to accept blood donations Saturday, February 5

Generous blood donors looking to keep appointments

BEDFORD, Texas (Feb. 4, 2022) – Carter BloodCare will return to usual start times on Saturday, Feb. 5, for all operations at its headquarters in Bedford, Woodway and Tyler. All donor centers that are usually open on Saturdays will return to their schedules and blood drives on the books will continue as planned on Saturday, Feb. 5.

Safety precautions were necessary for the blood center to close down all its operations on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 3 and 4, during winter storm conditions. Carter BloodCare supplies blood and blood components for patient transfusion, in more than 200 medical facilities in North, Central and East Texas. Knowing that patients continue to require blood transfusions even in wintry weather made the decision especially challenging for the community blood center.

“The most incredible thing is that our donors are ready to come in this weekend because they know the donations they give are saving someone’s life,” said Carter BloodCare’s Veronica Moore, vice president of organizational relations. “They are focused on the patients just like our team members are. Blood donors’ generosity is a lifeline for patients who depend on them.”

Carter BloodCare is offering double points in its online Dedicated Donor Rewards store for those who give blood Saturday, Feb. 5, through Tuesday, Feb. 8. Carter BloodCare has more than 20 locations in North, Central and East Texas where blood donors can give blood. Additionally, sponsors host approximately 20 blood drives in those regions daily.

Blood donors may schedule appointments by texting or calling 800-366-2834 or visiting CarterBloodCare.org.
