Photos: Ana Cruz Hollingsworth of Frisco named to National Blood Donation Hall of Fame
North Texan is 1 of only 12 recognized nationwide for blood donor advocacy
BEDFORD, Texas — Ana Cruz Hollingsworth is a new member of Fresenius Kabi’s National Blood Donation Hall of Fame.
She was honored Nov. 15 at an induction ceremony and trophy presentation at Carter BloodCare’s North Texas headquarters in Bedford.
Hollingsworth was one of only 12 people selected for this honor. Nominated by blood centers across the United States, this year’s inductees were chosen from more than 200 candidates, based on their extraordinary commitment to donating blood or for encouraging blood donation.
Carter BloodCare nominated Hollingsworth in recognition of her dedication in raising awareness of the need for blood donations, especially within the Hispanic community.
Her advocacy began after her newborn son, Zane, was placed on life support due to a congenital condition. During the first 10 days of his life, Zane received multiple blood transfusions to support his recovery.
Since then, Hollingsworth, a Frisco-based social media influencer and podcaster, has shared her family’s experience with hundreds of thousands of online followers and motivated Texans to donate blood.
“Ana continues to inform and motivate prospective Hispanic donors, which is crucial to our community’s health and welfare,” said Carter BloodCare President and CEO Dr. Barbara Bryant. “Ana is a role model in driving change that saves lives, through the gift of blood donation.”
In presenting the award to Ana, Fresenius Kabi’s Deanne Wagner said, “Your passion and commitment in raising awareness of the need for blood donation is an inspiration to all. Because of you, people in urgent and often critical need of blood have been helped and lives have been saved.”
Inductees and their stories are featured in a commemorative calendar used by U.S. blood centers. Ana and son Zane are highlighted for April in the 2025 calendar produced by Fresenius Kabi.
