Carter BloodCare unveils new donor center in Burleson

One of Texas’ largest nonprofit blood programs opens 26th donation location

BURLESON, Texas – Carter BloodCare is set to open its newest blood donor center in Burleson, marking the 26th fixed-site donation location for the nonprofit organization.

The new donor center will open Monday, April 21, at 2850 S.W. Wilshire Blvd., Ste. 100, in Burleson. The Burleson Donor Center will be open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays; it is closed each Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The center accepts whole blood, double red cell, plasma and platelet donations.

Along with Carter BloodCare’s ongoing mobile blood drives across North Texas, the Burleson Donor Center provides residents with a convenient location to help neighbors in need. Carter BloodCare directors note they must see at least 1,500 donors daily to keep up with the urgent health need.

Donated blood benefits those injured in serious car accidents, children fighting cancer, organ transplant recipients and many others. Transfusion patients can require multiple units of red blood cells or other components, such as plasma or platelets.

“Our North Texas population is one of the fastest growing in the United States, with the U.S. Census reporting an average daily increase of nearly 500 residents in the Dallas-Fort Worth area,” said Carter BloodCare’s Director of Marketing, Communications and Donor Relations Andrea Sign. “Our new donor center in Burleson is an important resource to support Texas’ increased health needs for local patients who urgently require lifesaving transfusions.”

She added, “We are grateful to be in the heart of the Burleson community and look forward to welcoming everyone to Carter BloodCare’s newest donor center.”

During the grand opening celebration April 28 – May 10, everyone who donates at Carter BloodCare’s Burleson location will receive exclusive thank-you gifts, including Founding Donor T-shirts and entries in daily prize drawings.

Starting May 1, in time for summer, each Carter BloodCare donor will receive a beach towel.

It takes only an hour to donate blood to save local lives. Eligible donors must weigh at least 110 pounds and can donate with Carter BloodCare starting at age 16 with parental consent; those 17 and older may donate independently. There is no upper age limit.

Residents can schedule a convenient time to donate at the Burleson Donor Center – or any of Carter BloodCare’s locations – by visiting CarterBloodCare.org or by calling 800-366-2834.
