After weekend storms, O negative blood donors in critical demand, reports Carter BloodCare

Blood center urges Texans to donate blood to help neighbors in need

DALLAS-FORT WORTH – May 26, 2024 – Carter BloodCare needs the public’s help with blood donations following devastating overnight storms on Saturday, May 25.

To treat those injured in North Texas storms, hospital demands for O negative blood have depleted Carter BloodCare’s available supply. The nonprofit blood center is urging all eligible donors – especially those with blood type O negative – to help the community by donating with Carter BloodCare as soon as possible.

O negative is critical because it is the universal blood type, meaning it can be used to treat any patient, regardless of their individual blood type.

There is a nonstop need for an available blood supply to provide quick emergency response. The North, Central and East Texas community is urged to donate at any Carter BloodCare donor center or mobile blood drive. It takes less than an hour to make a donation that can save three lives.

To help neighbors in need, visit CarterBloodCare.org to schedule an appointment or walk in to any neighborhood donor center.
