“These are crisis times for the community blood supply,” says Dr. Merlyn Sayers, CEO of Carter BloodCare. “Our ability to meet the urgent transfusion needs of patients is in severe jeopardy.”
All blood donors are needed now. (see video)
The coronavirus pandemic has had a compelling impact on all of us. With the cancellation of blood drives after the closure of schools, universities, colleges, businesses and houses of worship, the effect on the blood supply has been profound and sudden.
Please make an appointment at one of our many neighborhood centers. Six-hundred patients in area hospitals, every day, have blood transfusions ordered. They need your blood donations, now.
1000 donors everyday over the next 4 days is what it will take to build back our community blood supply to acceptable levels.
All healthy and eligible blood donors are needed now. If you cannot give blood, please encourage your friends and family to give blood this week. We cannot do this without you.
