Texas Rangers team with Carter BloodCare for July 8 blood drive
Rangers drive home the need for blood at Globe Life Field event
ARLINGTON, TEXAS (June 30, 2023) – The Texas Rangers are ready to step up to the plate and help Texans in need of lifesaving transfusions.
The Rangers will host a Carter BloodCare blood drive from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at Globe Life Field in Arlington. Donors can park in Lot W, enter through the SeatGeek Southeast entrance, and go to the event in The High Ball Lounge and 4.21 Food Hall, located on the upper concourse behind first base.
As a special incentive, donors can get their mitts on vouchers for two upper-level seats at the ballpark during the Rangers’ 2023 season, one voucher per donor. In addition, each donor will receive a Carter BloodCare beach towel, while supplies last.
Need for blood is urgent in summer
The July 8 event comes at a crucial time for the local blood supply. Blood donations typically drop in the summer and 2023 is no exception. The blood supply drops as students go on break – high school blood drives account for up to 25% of the community blood supply – and families focus on vacations. By donating blood, donors help people in urgent need of transfusions, including trauma patients, those undergoing cancer treatments, and many others.
“Rangers fans continuously rally around the team, and we encourage them to support their fellow community members with that same passion as we work together with Carter BloodCare in this lifesaving initiative. We are proud to host this blood drive at Globe Life Field to help replenish the DFW blood supply,” said Jim Cochrane, Texas Rangers Executive Vice President, Partnerships & Client Services.
Ballpark tours, Rangers alumni & Mixed Reality Experience
Complimentary ballpark tours will be given throughout the day. Tours begin at 9 a.m. The last tour will start at 4 p.m.
Additionally, two Texas Rangers alumni, Jose Guzman and Mike Simms, will be on-hand to take photos and sign autographs for donors. Former pitcher Guzman will be on-site from 10 to 11 a.m. and former outfielder Simms will sign from 3 to 4 p.m.
As a special treat for donors, Carter BloodCare is offering donors a chance to test a new mixed reality experience at the blood drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Follow the link for more information on the Microsoft HoloLens 2 mixed reality experience.
