Frisco first responders gear up for Battle of the Badges blood drive July 21-22
Frisco PD and FD urge residents to support the community by donating to save lives
FRISCO, TEXAS – July 10, 2023 – The 2023 Frisco Battle of the Badges blood drive is July 21 – 22, an opportunity to support local patients and Frisco’s dedicated first responders.
During the two-day blood drive, each donor can cast a vote for either the Frisco Fire Department or Frisco Police Department. When votes are tallied, the winning first responders claim both Battle of the Badges bragging rights and the annual trophy.
As thanks for giving, each donor will receive a Battle of the Badges T-shirt, while supplies last.
The annual community event comes at a crucial time, when the need for blood donors is most urgent.
Medical professionals often refer to summer as trauma season, when more outdoor activities contribute to an increase in people with injuries heading to the ER. A single critically injured patient has the potential to nearly deplete a hospital’s on-hand blood supply.
Also, when high school donors go on summer break and families get away for vacations, blood donations slow and the region’s available supply drops. High school blood drives help collect up to 25% of the overall blood supply; what never drops, however, is the round-the-clock demand for lifesaving blood.
On Friday, July 21, the blood drive is open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Frisco Police Station (7200 Stonebrook Pkwy. Training Rm.), Frisco Central Fire Station (8601 Gary Burns Dr. Training Rm.) and Frisco City Hall (6101 Frisco Square Blvd., 4th Flr.). On Friday only, those who present to give will receive a $20 e-gift card.
On Saturday, July 22, the blood drive runs 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Frisco Athletic Center (5828 Nancy Jane Ln. on the Carter BloodCare bus), Frisco Fire Station #7 (330 W. Stonebrook Pkwy. Training Rm.) and Frisco Fire Station #8 (14700 Rolater Rd. Training Rm.).
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are advised, via the preceding link or by calling 800-366-2834.
