Donating blood in Addison

Throughout 2024, we’re featuring each of our donor centers and what makes them unique. In November, we’re featuring our Addison Donor Center.

Conveniently located off Belt Line Road between Interstate 35E and the Dallas North Tollway, the Addison Donor Center serves one of the largest population hubs in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

The Addison Donor Center is unique because it has a staff largely made up of new phlebotomists who are passionate about what they do and passionate about developing a positive culture at the center. Phlebotomist Sierra Sawyers joined the team at Addison this year and is proud of how the staff have grown together in 2024.

“Every person on the staff is hard-working, brings good energy and makes every donor feel special and excited to come back again,” Sawyers said. “As a staff, we’re all very excited to be here. We love phlebotomy, our donors, each other and everything Carter BloodCare stands for.”

The staff has developed a great relationship with its donor base. According to Sawyers, it’s common for donors to bring treats such as pizza or Rice Krispies for the staff. Sawyers mentioned she and the team appreciate donors more than they realize, a sign that the hard-working staff and the dedicated donors who regularly visit have developed a sense of community.

The Addison Donor Center has regular donors of all kinds. Kyle W. is one of the donors who sometimes brings pizza for the staff. Marian and Sarah C. are a mother-daughter duo who visit every two weeks to donate platelets. Mark H. just crossed 77 gallons donated with Carter BloodCare and has been a loyal donor since 1993. He started donating at the Addison center in the spring of 2022, and Sawyers describes him as a “very loyal and sweet donor.”

These are just a few of the names Sawyers provided as regular donors that visit the center. The Addison team makes it easy for donors to want to come back, which leads to many regular donors.
