Carter BloodCare and McKinney leaders hold ribbon-cutting ceremony for donor center
MCKINNEY, Texas (Oct. 13, 2022) – Carter BloodCare and city officials celebrated the nonprofit’s first blood donor center in McKinney with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 13.
In attendance were McKinney Mayor George Fuller, McKinney City Council Member Patrick Cloutier, McKinney Chamber of Commerce representatives Andrea Harvey and Tami Tobar, and several McKinney business leaders from the chamber’s Ambassador program.
The donor center is located at 2950 Craig Drive, Ste. 102, in McKinney, on the northwest corner of Eldorado Parkway and Craig Drive, one block west of U.S. 75. The McKinney Donor Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and closed Mondays. The center accepts whole blood, double red cell, plasma and platelet donations.
Along with Carter BloodCare’s ongoing mobile blood drives across North Texas, the McKinney Donor Center provides residents with a convenient location to help others. Carter BloodCare notes up to 800 patients – including those injured in accidents, older adults with health issues, people undergoing cancer treatments, and many others – need blood transfusions daily. Most require more than one unit of red blood cells or other components, such as plasma or platelets.
