Carthage and Marshall team up to help East Texans in need of transfusions

2022 MASH Bash blood drive with Carter BloodCare supports local hospital patients

Carthage and Marshall, Texas (July 1, 2022) – Carthage and Marshall will host the annual MASH Bash blood drive this month with Carter BloodCare. The friendly competition between cities is taking on a united mission this year: to help replenish the East Texas blood supply.

While emergencies raise awareness of the need, blood is required every day for urgent medical procedures. In addition, summer is a challenging time for the local blood supply; when students go on break, blood donations typically drop, because high school drives account for up to 25% of the community supply.

Donating blood is an easy, positive way to support neighbors in need, including older adults with health issues, mothers having difficult childbirths, trauma patients and many others who depend on an available community blood supply.

Blood drive dates for Carthage are July 6 – 7, while Marshall’s event takes place July 19 – 20.

Donors will receive the commemorative 2022 MASH Bash T-shirt, along with thank-you incentives from Carter BloodCare and area organizations, while supplies last.
