Donating blood in Rockwall

Throughout 2024, we’re featuring each of our donor centers and what makes them unique. In August, we’re featuring our Rockwall Donor Center.

The Rockwall Donor Center is the easternmost center serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Conveniently located on Ridge Road right off Interstate 30, the center is positioned to serve Forney, Wylie, and parts of Garland and Mesquite in addition to Rockwall – with the nearest Carter BloodCare locations in Dallas and far north Garland.

The Rockwall Donor Center opened in 2020, making it one of the newest Carter BloodCare locations. Thanks to a friendly and welcoming staff, the center already has several regular donors, according to Site Supervisor Brenda Jaramillo De Leon.

“We have a couple, Amy and James S., who are frequent platelet donors,” Jaramillo De Leon said. “And Suzanne G. has been donating with Carter BloodCare for a long time and has been a regular donor here in Rockwall since the center opened.”

The staff are thankful to serve a community that is passionate about serving others through blood donation. Though the Rockwall Donor Center is small in both staff size and square footage, the number of donors the staff sees on a regular basis is not.

“Because we are a small location, we have a busy schedule that challenges us to work hard and work as a team,” Jaramillo De Leon said. “We appreciate every donor. They take time out of their busy schedules to help save lives.”

In turn, many donors are thankful for a staff that places an emphasis on creating a welcoming environment. Donor Marshall M. was nervous about his first blood donation, but thought the staff was “kind and caring” and he “felt comfortable every step of the way.” This is something the staff takes pride in because nervousness is one reason those eligible to give blood might not donate.
