The O Negative Effect 2026

O negative donors make an exceptional difference.

Each donation has an infinite impact. Your donation can change the lives of a patient and their loved ones and can inspire others to donate and make a difference in the same way.

O negative donors are exceptional because O negative is the universal type; it can be transfused to any patient and is frequently used in emergency situations. This means O negative blood is always in high demand.

The O Negative Effect program is back for 2026: Whole blood O negative donors will receive a $50 e-gift card for each whole blood donation and double red O negative donors will receive a $100 e-gift card.*

*E-gift cards are awarded as points to your Dedicated Donor Rewards account. Whole blood donors will receive 3,000 points and double red cell donations will receive 6,000 points.

Points are automatically added to your account. It may take up to 3 days after a donation for points to register. A qualifying donation results in the collection of red cells; appointments for whole blood, double red cells or an attempt to donate that does not result in red cells collected will not be awarded bonus points. Deferrals do not count as a donation.

The O Negative Effect promotion cannot be combined with the Gold Standard platelet or plasma e-gift card promotions. For example, with a combination procedure where both platelets and red cells are collected, the donor would only receive points for the Gold Standard platelet program.

Donors who participate in our Testosterone or Hereditary Hemochromatosis programs are ineligible for the O Negative Effect program and are rewarded based on a separate structure specific to these programs.

An email is required for e-gift card redemption. Points can be used toward e-gift cards or any other items available in the donor store. Dedicated Donor Rewards points earned in 2026 will expire on January 31, 2027.

If your appointment is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances outside of Carter BloodCare’s control, points will not be awarded.
