Dr. Richard Gammon
Richard Gammon has many years of experience in blood banking and transfusion, which he’s applied to a successful career as a medical expert, chair, and faculty member for numerous organizations.
Dr. Gammon attended Drexel University for Medical School. He completed a residency in Clinical Pathology at The Ohio State University Hospital and a fellowship in Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
As a faculty member at several medical schools, his passion for transfusion medicine extends to teaching the next generation of doctors. In addition, he has lectured on Patient Blood Management at the International Society for Blood Transfusion (ISBT), the Association for Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB), and the Society for the Advancement of Patient Blood Management (SABM) meetings.
Dr. Gammon chairs the America’s Blood Centers’ (ABC) Journal Club and the AABB’s Transfusion Safety/Patient Blood Management Subsection, and he is President-Elect and Chair of the South Central Association of Blood Banks (SCABB) Membership Committee.
As a respected and well-connected member of the medical community, Dr. Gammon is an expert in his position. He moved to North Texas in 2024 to become Carter BloodCare’s Chief Medical Officer.
