In light of the recent announcement from the CDC concerning face covering in public, Carter BloodCare will, effective immediately, conform with CDC recommendations and welcome donors and other visitors to wear face coverings or masks in our facilities.
We will also allow our staff to wear masks or face coverings (personal protective equipment or “PPE”) as they wish in our facilities. In anticipation of this announcement, we ordered face masks and full face shields last week. Once these arrive, they will be quickly distributed to our facilities for use by our staff. In the meantime, our staff members may use masks or face coverings of their own provision.
These precautions are in addition to our standard sanitation and cleaning protocols, and the use of PPE for blood exposure-prone tasks still applies to every interaction and donation.
